Weekend with Dad

Yippee, Daddy was home this weekend, and really made the most of his time with us!  Aaron's been in trial every year on Jake's birthday, so it was super important to have special time with him this year.  After the swim meet Saturday, Aaron took the older kids to Boomers for bowling, boat rides, miniature golf, go carts, and laser tag.  Wow, that's a lot--wish I had been there! Darn, I love bowling and laser tag.  Henry & I went home for a well deserved nap, and then to his friend's birthday party.  At the party, Henry had his very first Doritos chip.  He started with one, and then slowly kept returning to the table for more--eventually he got someone to give him a whole plate of Doritos.  He ate them in just about every way I've ever seen, and had cheese powder all over him to show his enjoyment.  He was so happy, and very sweet to watch discover how to get candy from a piñata.

Sunday, we had cake and presents after dinner.  I took note of how Jake is growing, in the last few years Jake has been content to get a bag of cookies and fish crackers for his birthday.  This year, Max knew Jake's innermost desire, thus, was set to give Jake his dream set of golf clubs.  How could I argue with that?  We love golf, and have wanted to teach the children to play anyhow.  So, Jake did get the clubs from Max, a pool chair from Natalie, swim trunks from Henry, & a special request for Mom to make him a new extra-large silky blanket.

Aaron didn't have to report back to the office until Monday afternoon, so he did one more Super Dad activity with the older children before having to leave.  After early morning swim team practice, Aaron took Natalie, Max, and Jake to our neighborhood driving range, to break-in Jake new clubs.  BTW:  We live in an awesome location, between the Tijeras Creek Club, and a beautiful canyon that spreads from Doheney Beach to the Saddleback Mountains.  I think our golf course is the nicest public golf course in Orange County; you'll have to click on the link and tell me what you think.  The golf course is picturesque, as it meanders through the canyon.  This was such a special day for Dad and the children, and Mom was thrilled to do the grocery shopping with only one child!  Nice.  I sure did miss everyone, though, when I ran into a mom with 4 young children at Trader Joe's.  Henry was so happy to play with them, but I quickly finished my shopping, so I could get home to everyone.

I understand the Doritos thing. I seem to have the same issue, except I put the plate full of them in front of myself. :(

What a fun weekend! I'm glad you had so much fun before getting the bad news.
