Jacob's 5th Birthday

Obviously this is Jake's birth announcement. Yesterday was his 5th birthday! We had some special time together out in Riverside, visiting Aaron. I like celebrating their birthdays in small special ways all week. Jake's enjoying choosing our meals for the week! He likes grilled cheese, & bugs-on-a-log (celery, peanut-butter, & raisins)--so it's not too crazy. We'll do cake, ice-cream, & presents over the weekend with Aaron.

Larry (brother-in-law), Matthew (nephew), & Savannah (niece) met us at the federal courthouse, and we were able to sit-in on the morning proceedings. I was so excited--this was my 1st time seeing Aaron do his thing! For those of you who don't know, Aaron manages the trial exhibits & video depositions, & presents them to the jury as needed throughout the trial. It was so weird entering the building though, I didn't expect there to be a checkpoint with x-ray machines and shoes off. It was just like going through an airport.

Savannah stayed the night with us at the Mission Inn, & I was able to take Jake out for a little special time together. :-) Unfortunately, Aaron was stuck in the office till 2am again, prepping for closing arguments this week. But is was still awesome to see him for a minute in the pm & again in the am.

On our way home, we stopped by Aunt Donnette's and said hi to Gordan's daughter (she's here for the summer). Donnette was already at the grocery store--it was only 8:00am I might add!

When we took Savannah home, we met the Blocker's new 6-wk-old golden retriever, Sarah! She's so sweet. Matthew and John earned $200, on their own, to buy her. Savannah is pitching in for food and tag costs. The boys are building a dog house--looks finished to me, just needs paint. They are such an amazing family. FYI: In addition to saving for their missions, these boys have already purchased their first boat as well. I love the way they have learned to work hard for their rewards! Cyd & Larry are a constant inspiration for us--they are the best parents on the planet.
