Visit to Grandfather's House
We had a nice visit, in Palm Desert, with Grandpa Clark today. We woke up early, but took forever to get everyone showered, dressed, and fed. Once we got on the road, we only had to make three stops on our way out: Food, gas, and a potty break. We finally arrived at 1:30pm and enjoyed an excellent day together. The children were very well behaved. Whew, thank you.
Dad's new friend Sheila helped me pack-up Mary's china. I was taken back by how difficult it was to go through Mary's things without her. I really miss Mary, but I realize that this needs to be done--it's what she wanted. I feel her love, and it's good to know that she wanted me to have such a special remembrance of her. Our family will surely enjoy the years of memories her things will bring to us. She was a woman of quiet greatness, gracefulness, service, & love.
After packing, we took a lunch break, and dad played games with the kids. Later, we set the kids up with movies, and I helped Dad straighten out some computer glitches and set him up with a new e-mail account. It's good to be a useful daughter.
I most enjoyed our quiet time together. At one point, I stole an unfinished drink that dad left out. When he was looking for it, I confessed and told him, "It's like having your kids around, huh!" We had a good chuckle, cause he's used to be alone now. I'm glad he has a good friend in Sheila to keep him company.
I love you Dad, thanks for a great day.

I don't know who Mary is but I'm sorry for your loss. I'm glad it turned out to be such a nice day with your family.
Grandma Mary, was my step-mom. I lived with them my last 2-years of high school. She was very good to me.
